Contest : God save the prom queen

Sycophants on velvet sofas
Lavish mansions, vintage wine

Maeve would love the decadence of the (late) baroque period. She would have thrived among the glory and brutality of the royal courts (like say the Palace of Versailles during of reign Louis XIV) looking as innocent as a angel while eliminating her rivals.

So this is my entry for 3rd and final round of the Miss-Villain Contest and for now a reminder I need to brush up my drawing skills when it comes to bloodied clothing. As a history geek I loved this round, although I do admited I mixed the time periods. While are large part me wanted to do this entry historically correct and decided not to do it (although I might use the sketches for another character) as that’s not Maeve. Still biggest inspiration was the work of Nicola Samori whose paitings I’ve seen in 2015 at the Venice Biennale. His works are contemporary interpretations of 16th and 17th  painting styles. His work is best described as dark and baroque with canvases often damaged by scraping, diluting, slashing, and tearing. My other inspiration were baroque elements (often frames for paintings) from churches I’ve seen in Portugal and Italy (especially in Naples, Lecce and Sicily) during my holidays to the piece.
